It's the last night for hand-made ornaments, Bratwurst and Wienerschnitzel at Daley Plaza. Weather not-withstanding, go! I went Tuesday night with friends. I highly recommend the Wienerschnitzel with German mustard and onions; it's 'Wunderbar!' The 'Glukwein' is a good call on a cold night. It's a burgundy wine served hot and is very potent ~ word up.

Cafe La Cave Birthday party Saturday 12/19/09.

While the honoree celebrated her 50th in style and reminisced with the music for cocktails, her guests were delightfully surprised to hear a plethora of Pop, Rock, R&B and Disco classics from the 1970's era. Before you turn up your nose, these songs were not the ones heard over and over at a wedding, but the fun ones you could sing along to or party with. In fact Bartender - Roxanne, Maitre 'D - Mary and much of the wait staff (not to mention the guests) couldn't stop dancing all night long! While other genres of music were played, the majority of the compliments centered on the creative use of the 70's tunes and how much enjoyment they brought to the party! A cool era, no doubt.

Hotel Baker Employee Party Rocks!

Empty chairs abounded as employees from the Hotel Baker in St.Charles IL populated the dance floor non-stop from 8pm-11pm Monday night at their festive Holiday party. With random patterns cast by our special Green/Red laser light, many guests were intrigued to ask 'how does it do that?', 'is it expensive' and 'where can I get one?' The Baker's Master Chef's (especially Chef Wallace) really out did themselves this time with a impressively crafted Roast Pork dinner with stuffing and sauerkraut laced with raisins along with mashed sweet potato's that swept everyone off their feet. Yeah, the taste buds were also rockin'!

Metropolis Ballroom - Arlington Heights

Anna and Steve's wedding reception last night 12/12/09 really was a five-star event come to life. I've never seen an 'Estate' table (head table) before. With over 200 guests present, there still was room to put eight 3' x 6' tables (2 sets of four) down the center of the room. While I was contracted til Midnight, a great time was expected with the last shuttle being set to leave at 2am. (This was a first!) Come the twelve o'clock hour, I not only got a big hug from the bride and a tip from the groom but BOTH sets of Parents also had compliments galore, along with several guests who stopped by on their way out as I was packing up, to throw a kudo or two my way. Being the Christmas season, as a last minute thought I borrowed and brought a green and red laser effect to compliment to festivities. Good choice, I believe, as it exploded with awesome color patterns to fill this sizeable venue. I was a little apprehensive at first wondering if it might be 'too over the top', but it was perfect and nothing short of spectacular. (I will consider offering this to all customers!) Food and venue report: I have to say that the clam chowder/seafood medley soup was outstanding. While the hall was beautifully appointed, with a delightful view of downtown Arlington Heights, unfortunately the many hard surfaces (including a hardwood floor), windows and vaulted ceiling make for a very noisy environment.

Winter Weather

Welcome to the 'North Pole' or as we know it Chicago, Illinois. Even all the hot air from the politicians can't dis 'Mother Nature'. Forget Bear weather, this is like getting slapped in the face by a hockey rink! I get a kick out of those who claim to enjoy staying here because of the 'change of seasons'. Somehow we seem to have only 2, Winter and Road Construction. Thank God the Olympics are coming up, maybe we could enter Northern Illinois in a new winter game, the 'pothole slalom'.
